The eagle has landed

The house movers were down the street raising another house. On Wednesday they came and lowered our house onto the walls.
The plumber came and disconnected our water and sewer before they lowered the house. The electrician also came and moved some of the wires that were in the way.
This is the Jenga stack with the jack to lower the house. The house movers climb these stacks like ladders. They stand on the two boards sticking out the side to remove the blocks (or add them when they are raising a house).
After they lowered the house onto the wall, the house movers used their jacks to help install the new beam supports over the garages, headers and a replacement beam. This picture shows one of the new glue laminate beams over one of our garages.
This is our new chimney support after the house was lowered.
This is the front of the house after the house was lowered.
This is a view of the back of the house.

Support under fireplace

They came early today and worked all day building the support under our fireplace. That is another step toward getting off the Jenga piles and onto walls.

Closer to getting closer to the ground

They have put up all the plywood they are going to before we are lowered to the walls. The current plan is to have the concrete blocks delivered on Friday. The bricklayers will install them on Saturday. The house will be lowered on Wednesday. The plumbing will need to be redone because a lot of it is between the wall and the house. Some of the plumbing needs to be removed to get the beams out after they lower the house.
They also put up the support columns.
Because the concrete blocks need to go up about ten feet to support the fireplace, they installed scaffolding for the bricklayers to use.

Even more plywood

They put up more plywood today. This is a sample.
This is where they will build the support under the fireplace. The current plan is to have the materials delivered on Friday and build the the support under the fireplace on Saturday.

More Plywood

They added more plywood today. They also attached four straps from the foundation to the wall. You can see two of them on the left side of the house. The other two are behind the car.
I am told that they will build the concrete blocks under the fireplace soon. Once that is build, they will lower our house onto our new walls. YEAH!!!

Plywood

They started putting up the plywood today. They have to put a piece of wood at the top of the plywood to support it. The wall is taller than eight feet.

A little wall

They are still getting things ready to lower the house. They had to build this little wall on top of the other wall because of the way the house was constructed.
They are attaching boards to the house where the walls will meet the house. This is so they can attach the house to the new walls.
An interesting thing about this wall is there is a window pane in it. It is covered by the siding on the outside of the house and by drywall on the inside of the house. We don't know why it is there. We only know it's there because we had to remove the drywall after we were flooded. Now that we are above flood level it may never be seen again.
