Building Permit Approved

Our building permit to raise the house is approved. I hope we can get our house raised before our neighborhood looks like this again. This is a picture from our front porch after the flood last January.

It's so cold that our permit is frozen

We still don't have approval on our permit yet. Our contractor said if we had been up in the air during the cold weather we are having our pipes would have frozen. Here are some pictures of the three holes in the back yard with ice crystals in them.

Still waiting

We are still waiting for the building permit. It would be nice to get our house raised as soon as possible. We are now in the flooding season. The river came up near flood stage a few days ago. This is a picture of one of the new curtains made out of material we bought on vacation.
This is a picture of the new coat hanger we installed. There is pleanty of room for visitors.

Which came first?

Our contractor applied for the building permit to get our house raised. Once that gets approved we can schedule getting the house raised. Here are some pictures of our Ameraucana hens and a couple of green eggs one of them laid.

Friends' house

The things that are happening are behind the scenes right now. The architect is producing the final drawings so we can get a building permit. We are waiting for the county to run the tests for our new septic system, so we still have three holes in the back yard. We do have some friends who are further along in the process. I am including a picture of their home to give you an idea of what is to come.

The Beginning

This blog was created to show our family and friends the changes that are happening at our house as we elevate it. We hope to soon live in 'An Taigh Ard' (The High House).
The status today is we have three holes in our back yard 4 to 5 feet deep to run tests to put in a new septic system.
We are asking to put a garage under the house when it is raised. We may get two one car garages rather than a two car garage because of the location of the chimney.
We also had the outside of our house painted. We need to paint the trim.
