We have footings

The poured the concrete for the footings for our porches today. These are most of the ones for our front porch and steps.
This is the one in the front that is on the other side of the temporary stairs. There is also a foundation wall on this side of the temporary stairs that will help hold up the front porch. It was poured at the same time as the rest of the foundation.
This is the last of the footings for the back porch. The rest of the footings were poured at the same time the garage floor was poured. You can see the lids to our new septic tanks. Up against the wall to the left is the alarm (you can see the red light on top) that will go off (probably in the middle of the night) when the pump for the effluent fails.

They did more work getting ready to pour the footings for the front porch today.

Footing forms

They worked on putting in the forms for the footings under the front porch and steps.
Most of the footings are on one side of the temporary stairs, but one is on the other side.

Stairway footings

The holes they dug yesterday for the front porch footings were lonely so they dug more footing holes. The three they dug yesterday are to support the front porch. The large hole to the left is to support the landing that will be part way down the stairs. The rectangular footing to the right is to support the bottom of the stairs that will go to the right.
This footing will support the bottom of the stairs that go to the left. The stairs will separate into two stairways at the landing.

Footings for porches

They did more work on the footings for the back porch. They added the connectors that will be in the concrete to hold the 4 by 4 posts.
The weather was nice today, but the mud still needs some more drying.
They also dug the holes for the footings for the front porch. This reminds me of stupid joke my high school teacher told: Did you hear about the three hole in the ground? --- Well, well well.

Waiting for the mud to dry

The new septic system was installed under very adverse conditions. It was very rainy and muddy. They had to put boards down to keep the equipment from sinking in the mud. Since then they have been waiting for the mud to dry. The weather hasn't completely cooperated, but the mud has dried enough to start work again. Today they started the work on the rest of the footings for the back porch. They also did some work on the septic system, but they need the mud to dry more to finish. It doesn't seem like summer yet.
They also started to mark the layout for the front porch and steps.

New Septic Tanks

They installed the two new tanks for our septic system today. We are now hooked up to our new system. They still need to add the pump that pumps the effluent to the drainage field. They are also going to pump out and decommission our old septic tank.
They are also going to haul away the extra dirt.
The new system will get inspected next week.

Septic system

The started putting in the new drainage field for our septic system today. The mud is thick and sticky. I made the mistake of trying to cross the mud. I was lucky to make it out.
The back yard is divided by three drainage lines and piles of dirt.
We have gravel and earth moving equipment ready for tomorrow. They put down panels to keep the earth moving equipment from sinking in the mud.
We have more earth moving equipment parked in one of our driveways and they moved the port-a-potty closer to the front steps. That will come in handy tomorrow when they disconnect our old septic tank.
They also painted today (not the same people who were working in the mud).

More baseboards

They finished fixing the baseboards today. They also caulked the big cracks. We still need the touch up painting. We have a new piece of earth moving equipment in our back yard. I think they are getting ready to install our new septic system.

Baseboards

When our house was being raised and lowered, some of the baseboards came away from the wall and some of the walls shifted in relationship to the floors. Today they started to redo our baseboards. They also adjusted doors to fit in the frame.
We found out we had to file some paperwork with the county to get the septic permit. We filed that today, so work on the new septic system should start soon.
We lost most of the rhododendrons in our front yard due to the construction. The one we have left is blooming.
